Maglite torches are chosen by many police and security personnel as their torch of choice. All Maglites are designed, produced and patented in the USA, although some products contain imported components. The features of Maglites include a machined, high strength aluminium alloy casing, an anodised outside and in, which improves durability and corrosion resistance, shock and water resistance, high intensity, an adjustable spot to flood beam which can be twisted from the base, high quality rubber seals and balanced optics and power for superior performance. A spare lamp is stored in the tail cap, with the exception of Mini Maglites. The Mini Maglite can be easily transformed into freestanding candle mode.

Now we will discuss in turn the Mini Maglite, the Maglite Torch 2D Cell, the LED 4D Cell and Maglite upgrades.

The Mini Maglite torch is the ideal size to fit into a pouch or onto a belt. This torch is the same size as the Surefire 6P but at nowhere near the price. These little torches are reliable and dependable, with a solid finish.

The Maglite 2D Cell torch is the smallest of the Maglite range of D Cells, although this is actually a benefit as it is less awkward and does not get stuck in a belt loop. Also, sometimes, police forces limit their officers to carrying 2D Cells. Every D Cell torch incorporates 2 high intensity krypton gas lamps for extensive range and intensified brilliance. These torches produce an amazingly powerful beam and are solidly constructed.

The Maglite LED 4D Cell is Maglite’s most advanced and recent addition to their range. This is their top selling torch and is a classic. As one of the largest torches, it is ideal for other applications such as putting through vehicle windows. Additionally, virtually all police personnel know someone who have utilised the 4D in self-defence. The LED version of this torch produces a more powerful beam than the traditional Maglite, whilst also having an extended battery life. This means that running costs will be less expensive in the long run.

A Maglite LED upgrade is well worth the investment. The official D Cell LED upgrade will transform your torch by giving it a super bright beam that is only to be believed when seen. Using an LED means that you can improve the battery life by up to 10 times, in other words, this upgrade will pay for itself in no time. Also, as this is an official Maglite upgrade, it won’t affect your warranty. This upgrade is also the only one that is fully focusable. Features include 3 watt MAG-LED technology, a brilliant white light, runs on alkaline batteries, so no expensive lithium cells, energy efficiency, simple to install upgrade and an impact resistant LED that never needs replacing.
